Year 5 and 6 Finals: Class- 3 year 5 & 3 year 6 from each class go through to the team finals Team- 3 year 5 & 3 year 6 from the whole team go through to the finals 6 students in the final

Speeches to be 2-3 minutes long,

Should children be allowed to use cell phones as a Learning tool in the Learning Room?
Saving the world’s environment is a lost cause.
Watching television is making NZ an unhealthy nation.
Why is beauty so important in society?
Is it our responsibility to improve community neighbourhoods?
Procedures:
Students will be given a choice of four to six topics to choose from.
The purpose is to persuade not to inform.
Students are to be encouraged to read from prompt cards and from memory.
Props are acceptable.
It is compulsory for all students to participate in class presentations. If student is reluctant please consult team leader.
Students must compete in their Year Level no matter which classroom they are in.
Please Note: Speeches can be written at home as part of the homework task BUT:
Speeches are to be the student’s own work, however parental support to locate information or to critique the content is acceptable, but must not be written or told how to be written by the parent. Room 10. For extra support for your topic log in to our email account learningroom10@kimihia.school.nz on google mail, use our password (new one). There is an email sitting there for each topic with links to useful websites and youtube clips. Each topic has information that might be useful for you.
